Breastfeeding, is just one small stage of his life

Bethany

Bethany's story

At 16 months old, Max is still very keen to have mummy milk in the morning and at bedtime. I know it’s a mixture of habit, comfort and convenience but I’m happy to just go with the flow until it ends naturally.

When I look back, I wonder how many feeds have actually been for me all along? I’ve needed his comfort, I’ve needed time to rest. I’ve needed to forget about the mental load of motherhood that so often fills my mind. Breastfeeding has persuaded me to rest.

One day soon he won’t need my milk anymore and that's perfectly okay. Breastfeeding, however beneficial to us both, is just one small stage of his life. A life that I am truly honoured to witness.
