Donating milk
Amber
Amber's story
We had a few latch issues initially due to my over-supply of milk but we overcame this with the right support.
I decided to donate milk to the Hearts Milk Bank because I had extra milk. A friend of mine was struggling with low supply so I offered to donate milk directly to her child as well.
I donated 30 litres (57 pints) of my breastmilk to my godson and Hearts Milk Bank. I stopped when my son began dropping feeds as pumping became difficult, but I hope I’ll donate even more with my next baby.
My advice would be that although the first weeks can be tiring, remember that you’re not ‘lazy’ for letting some things go. Your baby needs those snuggles more than you need clean dishes. Allow yourself time to enjoy those snuggles.
